Join us for an invigorating and supportive fitness experience designed exclusively for first responders. The Strength in Unity Fitness Class will take place on January 24th at the Allan & Jean Millar Centre, offering a unique opportunity to enhance your physical well-being and build camaraderie with your peers.

Fitness Class Highlights:

Pre-Event Requirement: Complete the Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PARQ) at least 24 hours prior to the event. Submit the completed form directly to our Lead Trainer, Ryan to ensure your participation.

What to Bring: Wear comfortable clothing and indoor athletic shoes. Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. Complimentary cool down towels will be provided after the fitness class.

Details:

The event will feature three dynamic stations focusing on First Responders physical demands, each lasting 15 minutes with a 5-minute transition buffer:

Spin Class: High-energy cycling to boost cardiovascular health.
Functional Fitness: Exercises focusing on strength and endurance.
Mobility & Flexibility: Techniques to improve range of motion and reduce injury risk.

This session is more than just a workout—it’s a chance to strengthen the bonds within our first responder community while promoting physical health.

Meet our Lead Trainers

Ryan Vidad

Ryan is a passionate healthcare professional turned fitness enthusiast, dedicated to empowering individuals to achieve their wellness goals. His journey began as a Registered Nurse in the Philippines, where he gained valuable experience in various hospitals and as a Medical Emergency First Aid Instructor in the Maritime Industry.

In 2014, Ryan made the bold decision to move to Canada, where he obtained his Medical Responder certification and joined the fire department to serve his new community. His medical background and passion for helping others naturally transitioned into a career as a fitness trainer. With years of experience treating patients in hospitals, Ryan has witnessed firsthand the importance of preventive care and healthy living. This motivated him to pursue a career in fitness, where he could inspire and support others in their journey towards optimal health and wellness.

Today, Ryan works as a full-time Health & Wellness Coach at the Allan & Jean Millar Centre, where he helps individuals achieve their fitness goals and improve their overall quality of life. He is excited to continue making a positive impact in his community, one healthy habit at a time.

Mike Kesthely

Mike Kesthely has been involved in athletics his entire life, ranging from years playing box lacrosse, martial arts, rock climbing, mountain biking and CrossFit. He has worked in emergency services since 1994, and as a Firefighter/Paramedic for the Lethbridge Fire Department since 2000.  He is the past Health & Fitness Coordinator for the department, and now holds the rank of captain. His passion now lies with nutrition & functional lab analysis, and improving client performance, health and longevity through dietary, lifestyle and supplement augmentation.
